Valley Farm, Broomfield, Somerset.

Valley Farm is a wonderful place to spend time with both friends and family. The house is great for entertaining with a well equipped “cooks” kitchen and a large dining and sitting room with an open inglenook fireplace. The house is child friendly with a large fenced lawn and a lawn level trampoline.

Valley Farm is a private home which is occasionally let for holidays; it is therefore a home first and a business second. We, your hosts, too have stayed in holiday homes and have both good and bad experiences. We still shudder at the thought of staying in mean spirited places with bad heating and nylon sheets without a single sharp knife in the kitchen and remember fondly the places which were special because they had a touch of humour or luxury. We therefore strive to run Valley Farm as a place people enjoy to stay and want to come back to.

You are surrounded by some beautiful countryside at Valley Farm and we would very much encourage you to get out and explore the Quantocks. For the serious walker or biker the Quantocks Greenway passes by the house, as do many shorter circular walks. If you are less adventurous, the house is set in eight acres of its own land with a stream and woodland, allowing you to while away the odd hour or two. Look out for red deer and buzzards as you walk around as well as many more elusive birds.

Inside the house you can expect to find all normal home comforts. There are two television sets equipped with VCR and DVD players as well as a Windows XPTM  PC with wireless, ADSL broadband internet connection and a printer. Additionally there is Hi-Fi equipment for listening to CDs or FM radio.

There are no “extras” at Valley Farm, the cost of your stay is inclusive of all heating, freshly ironed cotton bedding, wonderful fluffy cotton towels, cleaning products for dishes and the washing machines and even logs for the fire. We only ask you to pay for out going telephone calls and if you want to burn more logs than we have left, there are logs for purchase in the woodshed.

Naturally your time and money is precious and you want choose the right destination for a holiday, the idea of this web site is to give you as much information as we can to help you makeup your mind, the following is a list of what you will find at the property.

  6. Adequate cutlery, crockery and utensils for 12 or more people.

Dining room:

  1. Dining table for an additional 6-8 people, for large groups we can place both dining tables together in the dining room and thus accommodate up to 12 people at the dining table.

Sitting room:

  1. Exposed stonework Inglenook fire place , Initial complimentary wood for open fire + purchase additional bundle
  2. Telephone for incoming call and out going calls (out going calls at cost on an honesty scheme, please leave money for calls made)
  3. Windows TM XP Computer, with broadband internet connection.
  4. Hi-Fi / CD player
  5. Radio Cassette
  6. TV / Video/ DVD

Bedrooms:

  1. Duvets with Linen and Towels provided
  2. Two fold-up "Zed beds" for up to two additional guests (but see exclusions below).

Outside

Hazards / Warnings:

  1. The unfenced stream would be considered a hazard for toddlers, although there is a safe fenced off garden area (this area also contains the trampoline).
  2. No mobile phone reception
  3. Steep stairs. (There is at present no stair gate, contact us if this is a concern for you)

Exclusions:

  1. Please note this is a non smoking house.
  2. Strictly no Stag or Hen parties
  3. The property sleeps 8 adults, larger parties by prior arrangement.
